CLUB: OMBAC Wins Men's 7s Championship
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Aug. 11, 2002 - OMBAC of San Diego beat the Maryland Exiles 54 - 0 to win its third consecutive USA Rugby Men's Club 7s Championship title today. The tournament kicked-off yesterday, Aug. 10. The 16 top men's club 7s teams traveled from across the nation to Conshohocken, Pa., to play in hot, humid condititions and battle for the title of champion. Despite the blistering heat, OMBAC was able pull through to the Cup Final, beating both Denver and Old Blue earlier in the morning. However, it was Denver who took home the Plate, beating state rival Aspen 42 - 0. Denver also took home additional bragging rights, as team member Doug Rowe, was awarded the tournament's MVP. In Bowl play, NYAC clichéd the title, claiming a narrow victory over South Seas, 5 - 0. A full listing of the weekend's scores are below.
