Summary OMBAC RSL v Golden Gate RSL
Golden Gate out performed OMBAC 22-5 on a fast dry field this past Saturday.
Kevin McCaslin refereed the match which saw an undisciplined OMBAC team
receive 3 yellow cards and one red card.
Golden Gate scored first with a try after only seven minutes of play but no
conversion. OMBAC's halfback, Ghian Snyman, was sent to the Sin Bin at 17
minutes for stomping. Golden Gate next converted a penalty goal at 22
minutes and another penalty goal at 32 minutes. It wasn't until after 40
minutes of play that OMBAC was able to put any points on the board. OMBAC's
Henry Schaaf scored a try for OMBAC just before the whistle ending the first
half.
Both teams played hard, tenacious defense. OMBAC received another yellow
card only one minute into the second half, sending lose forward, Joe
Forehand, to the Sin Bin. As soon as Forehand was back on the field McCaslin
sent the OMBAC lock, Damian Coonan, to the Sin Bin. And, ten minutes later
Forehand commited another late hit and was sent off permently with a red
card. Golden Gate converted the resulting penalty kick for 3 more points at
about 22 minutes into the second half. Golden gate took advantage of OMBAC's
fewer numbers and scored a try at 68 minutes. However, Golden Gate was only
able to muster another 3 points before full time, by converting one more
penalty kick.
